Our Team

Craig Fechter, CPA

Craig R. Fechter, CPA, is President of Fechter & Company, CPAs located in Sacramento, CA and has developed a number of firm specialties -

  1. Audit/review/compilation services
  2. Tax compliance and consulting
  3. Other general accounting & taxation consulting

Craig graduated from Golden Gate University with a Masters degree in Taxation; Craig also holds a Bachelors degree in accounting from California State University - Sacramento.

Craig initially received his certification from the California Board of Accountancy in January of 2005.

Craig has been an adjunct faculty of accounting at American River College and is presently teaching a business tax course for UC Davis Extension. He recently assisted UC Davis staff in developing the course material, learning objectives and course outline for this course.

Craig has been active in the community as well, serving on the finance and executive committee of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento. Craig also serves on the Facilities, Transportation and Finance Committee of the San Juan School District which acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Education.

Craig has also been published by Comstocks business magazine in September of 2008 and many other local publications.

Scott A. German, CPA

Scott A German has been with Fechter & Company as a principal since 2009. Mr. German brings his practical experience providing outsourced controller services to a wide variety of clients.

Mr. German has held successful financial management positions with construction and non-profit organizations. Mr. German entered the practice of public accounting 1985 with the international accounting firm KPMG.

Mr. German graduated in 1985 from California State University at Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, concentrating in Accounting.

Since entering the profession of accounting Mr. German has volunteered with various organizations including United Way, Sacramento Tree Foundation, California Hospice Foundation and St Francis Elementary School.

Mr. German spent time as a member of the Board of Directors for both the California Hospice Association and the California Hospice Foundation where he served as the Treasurer.

Lamar E. Edwards, CPA Candidate

Mr. Edwards joined the firm as a Principal specializing in Audits of Healthcare Organizations, Single Audit Compliance audits and audits of federal and state grant programs. Mr. Edwards also helps for profit companies implement processes to fully utilize tax credits under the Enterprise Zone and WOTC programs. Mr. Edwards currently specializes in:

  • Audits of vendors of the Regional Center in accordance with the Welfare and Institution Code 4652.5
  • Audits of Title 5 preschool programs including recipients of funding from the California Department of Education, Head Start and Child Care and Food Program
  • Single Audits under OMB Circular A 133
  • Assists businesses utilize federal and state employment tax credits (Enterprise Zone Hiring Credits & Work Opportunity Tax Credits ("WOTC")).

Mr. Edwards received his Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from California State University of Sacramento. Mr. Edwards is currently working on his CPA license.

Aprill Watson, Senior Auditor

Ms. Watson joined the firm and brings with her over six years of project management and internal auditing experience with her. She was previously employed by a Fortune 500 financial services company where she was responsible for the oversight and execution of regional compliance, regulatory requirements and procedural processes. Her various duties required her to ensure that all projects were completed on time and all reporting completed without errors. By utilizing her project management knowledge she was able to integrate resources from various areas to achieve all goals as outlined. Her most recent position as the Quality Improvement manager involved directing and participating in compliance audits, ensuring that the procedures in place were compliant with state guidelines and implementing corrective measures when procedures were out of compliance.

Ms. Watson obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration from Golden Gate University and her Master of Business Administration focusing on Global Management from the University of Phoenix. She is active in her community volunteering with United Way's Emerging Leader program and as an arbitrator for Arbitration Forums. She is also a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for a local foster youth and helps ensure that the youth's needs are met.

Joanne Berry, CPA

Joanne Berry joined Fechter & Company specializing in audits and accounting consulting.

Mrs. Berry began working in public accounting in 1998 with the international accounting firm Ernst & Young, LLP. Mrs. Berry has held successful financial management positions with biotech and energy organizations. Her experience includes the following:

  • Month end close and reporting
  • Construction & development
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Project management of various accounting projects including software implementations and internal control rework

Mrs. Berry graduated in 1997 from California Polytechnic Institution, San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, concentration in Accounting.

Robert C. White, Senior Accountant, CPA Candidate

Robert C. White has been with Fechter & Company as a Senior Accountant since June 2013. Mr. White brings over four years of public accounting experience in the Sacramento area and a brief period as a consultant/accountant for start-up companies mostly based out of the Silicon Valley with him. Mr. White entered the practice of public accounting in 2008 with a Sacramento based accounting firm Richardson and Company. Majority of Mr. White’s public accounting experience is related to providing auditing services in order to issue year-end audited financial statements for the following type of entities:

  1. Banks
  2. Special districts (Water, Fire, and Cemetery)
  3. Counties
  4. Cities

Mr. White graduated in 2006 from California State University of Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accountancy. Before transferring to California State University of Sacramento, Mr. White was enrolled at Yuba Community College located in Marysville, CA where he was pursuing an athletic career in baseball. He is now actively seeking CPA certification and planning on returning to a university in the near future for a Master's degree.

Sandy Sup, CPA

Sandy Sup joined Fechter & Company as an audit manager specializing in government and non-profit audits.

Mrs. Sup began working in public accounting in 2001 with Gallina (formerly Bartig, Basler & Ray) auditing primarily government entities. She has audited 28 of the 58 counties in California as well as numerous cities and districts in California and Nevada. Sandy also served as a reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) that is responsible for awarding the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for more than four years.

She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from California State University, Sacramento and has been licensed as a CPA in California since August 2004.

Mike McLevich, Senior Tax Accountant

Mike joined Fechter & Company’s tax practice in 2015. He has 10+ years of experience in accounting and tax and brings a level of expertise that ensures consistency and efficiency in processes and work production. Mike has worked with the following types of clients.

  • Individual,
  • Partnership,
  • Fiduciary,
  • Non-profit and
  • Corporate tax returns

Bachelor of Science-Finance, California State University, Long Beach, CA in 2005. He continues to add to his knowledge through continuing education.

Katrina Nelson, Auditing Intern and Office assistant

Katrina graduated Magna Cume Laude from Brigham Young University Idaho in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a Minor in Marriage and Family Studies. She has completed the Accounting Clerk, and Payroll Certificate through American River College. She loves learning and plans to continue expanding her education.

Katrina Nelson has over 10 years of general office experience.

Her experience includes:

  • Federal Financial Aid, Scholarship, and Grant disbursements
  • Federal and California Tax Credits through the Enterprise Zone and WOTC credits
